Every adventure begins with a moment that changes everything. This was mine.
WHERE MY STORY BEGINS
My story begins on a cold December day in 2018 in Northwestern Pennsylvania. There were eight of us — five boys and three girls.
Shortly after we were born, there was a voice. An elegant, soft, kind, loving voice that said: “I choose you.”
I KNEW I WAS HOME
Two months later, one of my brothers and I began a long road trip with a very nice couple. Many hours later, when we finally reached our destination, I met this man.
The moment I smelled him and looked into his eyes, I knew two things: I was home, and this was the man I was supposed to take care of.
WHEN THE WORLD BECAME MY CLASSROOM
I learned the world by experiencing it — mountains, deserts, grasslands, forests, rivers, oceans and cities. I discovered that every place has its own sounds and smells: pine trees and ocean air, desert dust, rain, wildlife and animals I had never encountered before.
I played in deep snow and felt temperatures well below zero. I explored deserts in heat over 110 degrees. I climbed mountains, walked beaches, explored small towns and stood in the middle of some of the biggest cities in America.
Every new place taught me something. And with every mile, I became a little more curious, a little more confident and a lot more ready for whatever came next.
MORE THAN AN ADVENTURER
Exploring the world taught me confidence, curiosity and how to adapt to almost anything. I didn't know it then, but those experiences were preparing me for something completely different.
Eventually, the cameras showed up. Movies, television, commercials, music videos and product shoots became another kind of adventure. I wasn't raised or trained to be a canine actor. I learned by experiencing the real world — new places, unfamiliar sounds, different people and environments.
When the cameras start rolling, I'm still me. And apparently, that's exactly what they wanted.
WE BECAME EACH OTHER
When I first came home, I knew Dad was where I belonged. What neither of us knew was just how much we would eventually become to each other.
It happened somewhere along the thousands of miles, unfamiliar places, long days on the road and countless adventures we shared. Dad taught me how to explore the world with confidence. I learned that wherever we went, he would guide me, protect me and never ask me to face anything alone.
And while Dad was becoming my home, my love, my protector and my teacher, I was becoming something more to him, too.
I became his dog. His daughter. His girl. His love. His secret keeper. His protector. His safety.
Our bond wasn't built in a single moment. It was built through years of choosing each other, trusting each other and experiencing life side by side. It's in the way we understand each other without words, the way we look for each other, and the certainty that whatever comes next, neither of us faces it alone.
We've spent years exploring the world together. But somewhere along the way, we discovered something far more important than any place on a map.
Dad became my home.
And I became his.
THE BOSS BEHIND THE ADVENTURES
Somewhere along the way, I apparently became the Boss.
The Adventures of Penelope Anne® grew from the places we've explored, the stories we've collected and the life Dad and I have built together. What started as sharing our adventures became something much bigger.
Today, I'm the CEO, traveler, actress, model and soon-to-be author behind it all. Dad handles the cameras, driving, website and other minor details. I provide the talent and executive supervision.
Together, we're still exploring, creating and finding new stories to tell. After all, somebody has to keep Dad on schedule.
A NEW CHAPTER
My adventures have given me more than memories. They've given me stories.
Now I'm beginning a new chapter as a children's book author, sharing nonfiction and educational stories inspired by the places Dad and I have explored, the history we've discovered and the things I've learned along the way.
Because seeing the world is one thing. Sharing what I've discovered with others is a whole new adventure.
THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES
I've already experienced more of this world than that little Golden Retriever born on a cold December day could ever have imagined.
But I'm still curious. There are new places to smell, new people to meet, new trails to explore and stories still waiting to be told.
So this isn't really the end of my About page. It's just where you caught up with me. Are you ready?
